If he does go, it'll be a welcome surprise for Slave to the Grave who picked him for her Theme Team, ostensibly without knowing that he had prostate cancer.

Or did she... :crossbone:

Has he *ever* played keyboards with the Dead? Even so much looked at a keyboard? If so, he's a goner B)

Hep C Talk page from Phil's official site. New liver a few years ago, still in danger long term from Hep C and - recently - battling prostate cancer. Out on your Sept - Nov, mind.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but I read an article about Lesh very recently that described him as having been cured of the prostate cancer in December. Or, at least as cured as one can get.

Yeah, that's right CP. The Hep C and his cancer cells are doubtless fermenting and awaiting the opportunity to strike back, mebbe when he's knackered after the lengthy tour at the end of the year.

Would this be a good place to mention that the Grateful Dead's original manager, Rock Scully, has died of lung cancer?

Yeah, might also be a good place to point out this eight year old thread was started to chronicle a guy that is still gigging into 2015. You might read something into the lack of live dates planned after 3 Jan, but it's mainly low key stuff in bars anyway, so more casual than high profile.

Lesh announces forthcoming tour dates. http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2016/01/phil_lesh_annou.html

He's still optimistic, despite being on my lists.

Yeah, well, Lemmy has dates months ahead. Lesh would be in good company if he over-estimates his working life

Following the death of Robert Hunter, three of the four surviving members of the Grateful Dead - Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Billly Kruetzmann - were quick to pay tribute.  However there has been no comment from Phil Lesh, which I find surprising.

Lesh cancelled a run of gigs last month as he was scheduled for 'routine back surgery'...

Edit -False alarm, Lesh has in fact paid tribute:

Some talk on Reddit that octogenarian psychonaut Phil Lesh, still rocking at 84, had to be helped on and off stage, needed a chair and someone to assist with getting his bass guitar strap over his head at his most recent gig.
